Inhoud: A group of social work supervisors, all employed in positions involving them in direct management of staff, found they shared a need for: 1) peer support in their supervisory role 2) a means by which they could increase their supervisory knowledge and skills. This paper presents a descriptive account of how they developed a group-learning model, closely linked with the principles, practice and process of group work, which proved effective for the people involved. The group membership consisted of fourteen social work supervisors from three Sydney teaching hospitals who formed themselves into two groups, with an agreement to meet monthly. The project proceeded as a pilot study over a six month period and was evaluated and documented.
