As part of an evaluation of Adelaide's Multicultural Respite Care Project, a sample of thirty caregivers was interviewed to obtain information about their needs, responsibilities and expectations, their assessment of the Project and its impact on their caregiving role and their knowledge of available support systems. A profile of caregivers was also obtained, yielding information about such factors as age, gender, health status, the nature of the care being provided and the range of responsibilities faced by caregivers. The findings emerging from the study are described and their implications are related to current aged care policy development. |
