This paper briefly outlines the nature of intuition, its place in social work activity and the consequences of its use. In respect to this it is suggested that if practitioners only used it as a basis for practice the consequences could, in some instances, be negative for clients. It is, however, argued in this paper that two procedures have evolved that afford clients protection against such an occurrence. The paper concludes by considering the needs of the profession in regards to a methodology for use in developing knowledge for practice. |
