A postal questionnaire was used to obtain information about: (i) the motivations and experiences of adopted people and relinquishing parents who had had a 'reunion'; and (ii) the attitudes and involvement of the adopting parents to the reunion. Methodological limitations of the study are acknowledged, but those who did respond indicated a high degree of satisfaction with the reunion (both on the part of adoptees and natural parents), despite the wide range of difficulties described. A poor response from adopting parents highlighted the difficulty experienced by many adoptees in communicating with their adoptive parents. |
