It is argued that men and women exist in three dimensions, namely the physical, psycho-social and spiritual. Some arguments for, together with some indications of the nature of the spiritual dimension are drawn from religion, existentialism, sociology and experience. It is suggested that social workers mostly ignore the spiritual dimension, thus effectively implying that people are circumscribed by their psycho-physical condition and the environments within which they exist. The current strong desire is to free man by developing an ever better society, whereas the truth may well be that men and women can find that freedom in its ultimate sense only within themselves. |
