There is an abundance of literature on what social workers feel they should do to assist their clients. Text books and journal articles proclaim the social worker role. There is very much less information on clients' perceptions of their problems generally, even less in the area of the hospital clientele. As the largest area of employment for social workers is in the health field, it seemed appropriate to try and assess patients' needs. Financial constraints mean that the appropriate allocation of resources is more important than ever. This study attempts to seek from patients themselves, their feelings and difficulties on being required to enter hospital for medical treatment. |
