The conventional approach to management of Huntington's Disease has precluded considerations of the role of the family in development and treatment of the illness. This paper describes an approach to working with Huntington's Disease families that focuses upon the family unit. The paper examines the phases through which families of Huntington's Disease patients progress and looks at these phases within the context of the various roles assumed by social workers. |
