Numerous authors have commented on the observed correlation between social disadvantage and the identification of adolescents as delinquents (Cohen, 1955, Cloward and Ohlin, 1960). However, a precise definition of what social disadvantage means is difficult to find, and its relationship to delinquency often appears to be purely theoretical (Schrag, 1971). |
