This paper is concerned with the grief experienced by parents of a retarded child and the ways in which the counsellor can help such parents work through their feelings. Little reference will be made to the siblings of the handicapped child as it is assumed that their adjustment to and acceptance of their retarded brother or sister is dependent on the attitude and actions of their parents. |
