The shy passive student presents a challenge to any field instructor. Teaching him can be a frustrating and unrewarding process as it is very difficult to establish a working relationship with him. Often his work is expected to be mediocre and he responds to such expectations with mediocrity. On the other hand, teaching him can be a very rewarding experience as, given the right circumstances, it is usually possible to help him and the results may be quite dramatic when his shyness is finally overcome. |
