The Haemophilia Treatment Centre at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital now functions as a total care programme; a multidisciplinary team of personnel provide coordinated care for haemophiliac persons in New South Wales. A physician-in-charge, orthopaedic specialist and honorary genetic counsellor are available to patients. A sister is employed full time to administer outpatient and inpatient care, a social worker is appointed specifically for haemophiliac patients and a physiotherapist drawn from the hospital staff completes the team. The services of an occupational therapist and speech therapist are available when required. |
