An issue which is often raised with me by students, particularly by those who, like most of today's graduates, are going into professional jobs, concerns the relationship between their university education and training on the one hand and the demands of their profession on the other. And it is often put in the form as to how much harder it is to become than to be—more difficult to complete medical training than to be a doctor; more difficult to learn to be a social worker than to do what a social worker has to do: and so on. |
