Inhoud: There is an exquisite French legend from medieval times about a festival during which all the people of the town brought gifts to lay before the statues of the saints in the cathedral in their town. The cathedral was beautiful and men gave of their best. There was one man, however, so poor that he had nothing to offer. He was a juggler and clown. He entered the cathedral, so it is said, and moved by his devotion and his wish to make some offering, took out of his pocket his few ragged possessions, tools of trade, and juggled wonderfully and deviously before the statue of Mary. And it is said that Mary leant forward and smiled at him and touched him.
