In this paper an attempt is made to delineate and deal with some of the problems arising at the outset of probation supervision where the probationer's expectation or need is at variance with what he actually experiences. Certain modifications of traditional techniques and attitudes—which are discussed briefly only in so far as they relate to the problems of present concern—are suggested. It is hoped that what is said will also have application in other fields of social work practice in work with offenders. |
