This paper presents a simple solution algorithm to the problem of scheduling workforce for an organization operated seven days a week. For a given number of full-time workers, the objective is to maximize the total number of workers who get two consecutive days off. It can be shown that due to the special structure of the derived mathematical model, an optimal schedule may be found by a few arithmetic steps without the computer assistance which other existing methods require. |
