The purpose of this article is to address issues related to verification of inactivation or removal of microorganisms in waste streams to meet the permissible levels during decontamination processes. The sampling statistics are discussed to identify the effects of sample size, sample volume, and sampling frequency in the verification process. The issues related to viability assessment of microorganisms, application of biological indicators, and engineering considerations to verify the decontamination are also presented. |
