The effects of hydraulic structures on limnology and fishery resources are reviewed by classes of structure type and water body type. Ecological effects and mitigative measures which have been applied on lakes, reservoirs, rivers, estuaries and marine ecosystems are evaluated. State of the art methodologies for assessing the potential for perturbation from hydraulic structures to the physical, chemical, and biological components of aquatic systems are reviwed. Special emphasis is placed on those structures which have generic application to water bodies, though general aspects of semi-unique facilities are covered in this review. |
