Endometrial tissue alterations consist of a wide scale of histopathological lesions ranging between benign hyperplasia and endometrial carcinoma. Specific forms of endometrial hyperplasia are well known pre-malignant lesions. A quantitative histopathological analysis has been performed in order to provide an objective support for differential diagnosis in these cases. An increase of the nuclear area and various cytoplasm features was seen in relation with enhanced grades of endometrial malignancy. Thus, quantitative and stereological methods provide an accurate tool to support the diagnosis and estimate the prognosis of patients with pre-malignant and malignant endometrial lesions. |
