The leaves of Tahiti lime (C. latifolia Tanaka) are anfistomatics and the formation of the stomas seems to cease when thefoliar lamina reaches approximately a fourth of the definitive size. In order to evaluate the effect of eight citric rootstocks onthe number and stomatic index (NEST. IE); leaves were collected from the third half of the treetop; in the branches withsecondary growth, four leaves were collected by plants, and they were fixed in FAA 70% (ethylic Alcohol: Acetic acid:Formol); them it were made semi-permanent preparations of clarified of epidermal segments of both surfaces and in theapical, half and basal thirds of the lamina. The tint was made with malachite green and the assembling with water -glycerine. The microscopic observations were carried out with a microscope Olympus Bx40 and with objective of 400X.For the analysis it was used completely randomized design with four repetitions and eight treatments. The results indicatethat the highest values for NEST and IE in the adaxial surface were presented in the foliar laminas of Tahiti lime/Citrangecarrizo and Tahití lime/Citrange uvalde and in the abaxial one they were corresponded with Tahiti lime/Citrusmelo swingleand Tahití lime/Mandarina Cleopatra. In addition, there were significant differences (P < 0,01) between the index and thestomas number in the thirds apical, half and basal; on the other way, in the adaxial surface the biggest values of thesevariables are located in the basal third, while in the abaxial one, in the third apical. The patroness of the group Citrange,Mandarin Cleopatra and Citrusmelo Swingle, have influence on the NEST and IE, also in the foliar lamina of the file Tahitílime a bigger number stomas is presented in the third apical and basal, depending on the face of the leaf. |
