At the time of the Dynastic Union the Portuguese <em>cristãos-novos </em> and his supporter send constant petitions to the Catholics Monarchs and at the Holy Father to obtain the reformation of the behaviour of the Portuguese Inquisition. Beyond of the concrete aspects, the <em>cristãos-novos </em>search to obtaining the introduction in Portugal the proceedings of the Spanish Inquisition. A great deal of the controversy remains balanced at the validity of the singular witness for the crime of heresy. For is part, the Portuguese Holy Office fight, for the sixty years, to maintain his autonomy and jurisdiction to the intromissions of the Crown and the Holy Siege.<br><br>Durante la Unión Dinástica los <em>cristãos-novos </em>portugueses y sus valedores elevaron constantes súplicas los monarcas católicos y a los sumos pontífices para que reformasen el modo de proceder de la Inquisición portuguesa. Por encima de los aspectos concretos, los <em>cristãos-novos </em>trataron de conseguir que se introdujese en Portugal el procedimiento de la Inquisición española. La controversia quedó, en gran medida, centrada en la validez de los testigos singulares para probar el crimen de herejía. Por su parte, el Santo Oficio luso pugnó, durante los sesenta años, para mantener su autonomía y jurisdicción frente a las intromisiones de la Corona o de la Santa Sede.
