The purpose of this study was releaser a social diagnosis of farmers living in the watershed Oiti, located in Lagoa Seca-PB. The study was performed by in situ observation, the family visits, formal and informal conversations with the heads of families and implementation of questionnaires with 40% of heads of family, owners of small farms. To determine social the diagnostic were evaluated variables: demographic, housing, consumption of food, organization and participation in Rural Health. The average age of heads of household is over 50 years, where 60.7% had never studied. The heads of family (53.60%) added 4 to 8 people in its small rural buildings (1 to 3 ha). The labor force is essentially familiar, involves family-labor-production, helping to strengthen family ties. The low technological level of farmers in the community is a limiting factor to growth and social development of the Community Oiti. Develop programs to encourage education and training of farmers and family especially for young to better qualifications, with the needs of income generation, environmental sustainability and improving the living conditions of the population.Keywords: family farming, social diagnosis, improved quality of life.
