This work studies the importance of health ineconomic growth. One of the critical factors thatdetermines the efficiency of labor participation inthe production activity is healthiness of the laborstock. Not only individual health of labor but alsothe health of her environment is critical in laborefficiency. In that respect, the role of health ineconomic growth had to be studied in detail.However, this issue has not been studied at asatisfactory level in the literature. In thistheoretical study, we first show that healthinessscale up transitional and long-run growth.Secondly, we show that market solution fails to bethe first best solution, due to the externalitycharacteristic of health. Hence, we conclude thatpublic sector has to play a more involving role inimproving healthiness of labor stock. |
