Inhoud: Microalbuminuria, which is the third stage of diabetic nephropathy, is an earlypredictor of both morbidity and mortality in diabetic patients. The aim of the study wasto investigate any correlation between microalbuminuria and both CAD and silentischemia, which frequently occurs in diabetic patients. On the purpose, 60 patients who admitted to endocrinology and cardiologydepartments of Dicle University Faculty of Medicine. The study population wasconsisted of 31 female and 29 male patients, and 31 of them were microalbuminuricwhereas 29 of them were normoalbuminuric. Following separation of the patients intotwo match groups according to albümin excretion rates, were compared between thesegroups from the points of clinical, labaratory and exersize test result. In our study, in microalbuminuric group exercise test was found positive in ahigher ratio although none of the patients had given an anamnesis of anginal pain orany other symptoms; compared to the positive exercise test value of normoalbüminuricgroup (65% vs 34%, p<0.02). Indeed, maximum ST segment depression, MET valuesand exercise test were significantly different in both groups. Moreover comparisons ofHbA1c as a function of glisemic control in diabetes mellitus, diabetic disease durationand diabetic retinopathy were significantly different.Conclusively, microalbuminuria and silent ischemia are frequently found together. Therefore dedection of silent ischemia would be suitable in the management of diabeticpatient with microalbuminuria.
