Four peat-bogs from the Faroes have been examined for horizons containing volcanic ash. The grain size distribution of the ashes and the refractive indices of the glass in the ashes have been examined. The horizons with volcanic ash have been dated by the Carbon 14 method and the results have been compared with the ages of Icelandic acid ash layers. |
