A conceptual model is developed to investigate the influence of a rapid drop of a proglacial lake-water level on the size and hydraulic properties of a subglacial tunnel in the frontal zone of a temperate ice sheet. The formation of Sorundamalm, an elongated flat-topped glaciofluvial deposit in the southern Stockholm area, is suggested to be the result of the sudden, final drainage of the Baltic Ice Lake at the end of the Younger Dryas cold event followed by the rapid increase in the subglacial drainage of the Scandinavian Ice Sheet. |
