Biotite and hornblende have been separated from amphibolite samples collected near Bjelke mine in the lower Seve Nappe on Mt. Åreskutan for K-Ar dating. The age of the biotite is 413 ± 4 Ma and of two hornblende samples 388 ± 5 and 484 ± 7 Ma respectively. The ages reflect the Caledonian metamorphism and demonstrate that the temperature of the Lower Seve Nappe during this metamorphic episode(s) exceeded 500°C. |
