A social skills training program was designed to teach former Asian refugees the values and practices of Western culture, and to utilize this knowledge in seeking higher level employment. In a repeated measures multiple baseline design, comparison of pre-and post-performance measures of social interview skills found improvement in participants' performance. Social validity measures indicated self-improvement in several dimensions including understanding of Western social customs, personal confidence, and securing better employment. The implications of using these types of educational and social skills programs are discussed. |
