This case study describes a clinical application of a feminist-informed treatment model in family therapy. Specifically, it illustrates how therapeutic change with a lesbian couple is facilitated through the use of the Cultural Context Model by describing the couples' trajectory in challenging internalized oppressive gender norms, acknowledging their vulnerabilities, and creating strength through connection and shared power. Clinical files, interviews with clinicians, clients' evaluation of therapy, and videotaped sessions were analyzed by coding descriptive data over time and using content analysis. An illustration of the couple's change trajectory is discussed within the context of the model. |
