Finding techniques and tools that result in efficient energy management for application in the Brazilian environment is by no means an easy task. The reasons range from the ongoing deregulation that is dramatically changing the energy business to the customer's perceptions and motivations regarding energy. This article discusses the challenges facing energy management with the hope that it will help business development and also stimulate cooperative activities between experienced foreign energy professionals with their Brazilian counterparts. As I write this article, what happened in the 1962 World Soccer Championship comes to my mind. Before the final game, the coach specifically instructed one of the best players on the team (by the name of Garrincha) all that he was supposed to do in great detail. The coach indicated how he should play (to score), explaining how the opposing team would react. Garrincha, who was a very simple (but very creative) person, heard all the explanations and asked if the opposing players were already advised by the coach, because after all they should play in accordance with the same tactics. |
