  PT3 and the Deans' Grants

Title: PT3 and the Deans' Grants
Author: Maddux, Cleborne D.
Appeared in: Computers in the schools
Paging: Volume 23 (2007) nr. 3-4 pages 151-155
Year: 2007-02-16
Contents: PT3 and the Deans' Grants of the 1980s have much in common. Both were intended to stimulate the infusion of new material into general teacher education courses. PT3 was aimed at furthering the integration of technology in teacher education, while the Deans' Grants attempted to infuse knowledge and skills related to teaching students with disabilities. The Deans' Grants succeeded in the short term, but failed in the long term, since many general teacher education instructors gradually removed material about disabilities from their course syllabi once the Deans' Grants concluded. PT3 is unlikely to suffer the same long-term fate, due to the seductive nature of technology, which tends to make interest in it self-sustaining.
