  A Journal-Worth Measure for a Journal-Selection Decision Model

Title: A Journal-Worth Measure for a Journal-Selection Decision Model
Author: Kraft, Donald H.
Polacsek, Richard A.
Appeared in: Collection management
Paging: Volume 2 (1978) nr. 2 pages 129-140
Year: 1978-03-01
Contents: The problem of which journal titles to select for acquisition has been modeled, based on cost-benefit ratios. A practical process for objectively evaluating journal worth is developed. A procedure is outlined for the collection of appropriate data in a reasonable manner. The factors of usage, relevance, and availability of a title elsewhere are analyzed. Forms are presented to help the selector specify values for these factors. The forms provided are designed with a biomedical collection in mind, but are easily modifiable to other research library applications.
