Computerized Tomography (C.T.) and neuropsychological tests findings in patients over 50 years of age are presented. The scans were studied with respect to ventricular size and conical atrophy and utilized for the neuropsychological evaluation of the Halstead-Reitan tests. When cognitive deficiencies were analyzed in relation to changes revealed by the C.T. scan, it was found that enlargement of the ventricle was more significant than the cortical atrophy score, although a reciprocal relationship was found between both C.T. variables and neuropsychological tests. The nonsignificant correlations between age and global rating of cortical atrophy and ventricular size are discussed. |
