The University of Southern California closed the Education and the Social Work branch libraries in August 1998. Most of the collections were merged into the humanities and social sciences collection in the Doheny Memorial Library. The remainder of the collection was sent to an off-campus storage facility. Subject specialist librarians were deployed in the School of Education and the School of Social Work to provide library services to faculty and students. This paper explains the new Library Information Centers model and describes how the librarians function/cope without direct access to a paper collection. |
