Twenty-three extremely low rate-of-interaction (LPI) kindergarten children, 9 males and 14 females, were rated by their parents on the Child Behaviour Checklist (CBCL) and by their teachers on the Bristol Social Adjustment Guides. The only significant finding pertained to girls on the CBCL. The proportion of LPI girls scoring within the "clinical range"on the CBCL was significantly smaller than that of the clinical sample but larger than that of the nonclinical sample, suggesting a "subclinical"group. Perhaps some of the problems associated with low interaction present themselves in the home although not in the school. |
