Title: Knowledge and Movement Reproduction
Author: Toward, Jeffrey I.
Kerr, Robert
Appeared in: Human performance
Paging: Volume 7 (1994) nr. 4 pages 305-314
Year: 1994-12-01
Contents: Fifty-eight subjects were tested on a movement-recognition task designed to tap their knowledge relative to movement velocity. Two groups, a higher (n = 20) and a lower (n = 20) knowledge group, were then required to reproduce move- ments at selected movement velocities. Higher knowledge subjects were found to perform significantly more effectively than lower knowledge subjects on the movement-reproduction task. The results suggest that a relation does exist between the visual perception and physical reproduction of movement veloci- ties. It is argued that both may be greatly influenced by the level of knowledge possessed by the individual.
