Contents: An outline is presented of some of the available evidence to indicate the nature of textile processing in China during a period of intense conflict between the split Chinese kingdoms. A number of processes are explained and several products are illustrated. The importance of domestic textile production, as a major source of state revenue at the level of the individual kingdoms, is recognised, and the development of trade with Japan is identified.
