In the present study Landsat false colour imagery pertaining to 1973, 1983 and 1984 were used to assess the environmental impacts of the developmental activities of Sriharikota High Altitude Range (SHAR) and cyclone disaster on Sriharikota Island on the east coast of India. Using hybrid system of interpretation, it was possible to assess the environmental changes on the island. The study also showed that satellite data could be successfully utilized for environmental change detection purposes. |
