Cu adsorption studies were carried out using Penicillium sp.. Adsorption kinetics depend on various factors such as pH, concentration of initial Cu ion, biomass concentration and temperature. The metal uptake capacity increased with increase of pH, initial metal ion concentration whereas, it decreased with increase of temperature and biomass amount. Biosorption of Cu was also carried out in presence of various other metal ions. The suppression of Cu uptake was more in presence of metal ions such as Co, Ni and Zn and least in case of Pb and Cd. |
