Gravel accumulations in the Southern Baltic— methods and results of exploration

Title: Gravel accumulations in the Southern Baltic— methods and results of exploration
Author: Maslowska, M.
Appeared in: Marine georesources & geotechnology
Paging: Volume 11 (1993) nr. 2 pages 175-180
Year: 1993-04
Contents: The documentation work of gravel accumulation is realized in two phases: preliminary and detailed investigation. During the first phase the seismoacoustic profiles and echo sounding are carried out in a regular grid. In nodes of the grid coring is carried out to about 6 m sediment depth. The results of laboratory data and field profile descriptions allow the depiction of preliminary resource boundaries. During the next phase the seismoacoustic profiling is made in a more dense grid in an initially marked resource field and n cores are taken in the net nodes. Later no less than one 25,0-m-long drill is done in a deposit field. The complete laboratory analysis is made from all deposit seam found in the positive cores. As a further step, the tentative exploitation in the deposit field is initiated, and all sample material is analyzed in semitechnical scale. After these cruise observations and laboratory and technological studies, the results are compiled and the resource documentation is prepared. Such documentation is available for deposits in Slupska Bank, Koszalin Bay, and Southern Middle Bank
