In this article the author points out the limitations of television as a tool in non-formal education of adults in Africa and looks at the benefits of supplementing broadcast-delivered messages with person-to-person communications. Two examples of mass media campaigns integrating various media with person-to-person communications in the field are described, one in Ivory Coast and another in Zaire.
