Anthony Galt left us a legacy of important ethnographic work on Italy. This brief article is a personal remembrance of Tony the person, Tony the Italophile and Tony the scholar. It points to some of his most important anthropological contributions and to one of the major intellectual debates that he had with fellow Mediterraneanist Michael Herzfeld. Tony's contributions to the creation of an internet discussion group on the anthropology of Europe is also noted. |
