Athyrim yokoscense populations which are tolerant to cadmium grown in water culture adding Cd, then the roots were sampled, separated into four subcellular fractions: F1 (cell wall), F2 (cell nucleus), F3 (mitochondria and plastids), and F4 (some tiny organelles and soluble materials) to study the Cd distribution in the cell components. The Fl is outstanding as a Cd accumulator that get possession of Cd more than 80% of the metal in the tissue, and the possessed rate increase according the metal level rise in the.roots. Cd distributed into F4 is lower than 10%, and the rate decrease with the metal level rising in the roots. The results suggest tentatively that the mechanism of Cd-tolerance of A. yokoscense can be partly attributed to the special association of cell wall. |
