The objective of this investigation was to characterize charged membranes used for pressure driven separation processes by means of electrokinetic measurements. The membranes were prepared from chemically modified polysulfone on which ionic groups were introduced. They are suited for sorbing charged materials. For making this property evident, charged hydrophobic surfactants and endotoxins were used as substrates. The sorbing capability which is a function of the surface charge of the membranes was determined by measuring the streaming potential. |
