In this work, the effect of the addition of three alcohols viz., (n-, sec-, tert-) butyl alcohol on the viscous properties of an aqueous solution of dodecylammonlum chloride (DAC) constant concentration 104kmol/m3 is analyzed. The dependence of the viscosity on the different solutions with temperature is a monotonously decreasing one. Addition of alcohol to DAC solutions always raised their viscosity, this effect being higher in aqueous DAC/tert-buthanol solutions. These results are discussed in terms of coefficient B of the Jones-Dole equation. This coefficient was found to be always positive and increased in the sequence tert-→sec-→n-butyl alcohol. This effect has been interpreted according to the model of Frank and Ven.
