Male criminal justice students' attitudes towards female police officers are compared with those reported by Golden (1981), the most recent author to study this topic. Although shifts characterize several of the individual items examined at the aggregate level, attitudes have remained fairly stable. Almost half of the students still harbor unfavorable attitudes towards women as police officers. Implications of these findings for education and policing are discussed. |
