A radical salt 1, [Cu3(dppm)3(μ3-I)2][(0.5TCNQ)], has been prepared by reaction of CuI, dppm (diphenylphosphinomethane) and TCNQ (7,7',8,8'-tetracyanoquinodimethane) with a molar ratio of 1 : 1 : 0.5 and characterized by IR, UV-Vis and solid-emission spectroscopy. Its structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. 1 also has photoluminescence (λmax = 653 nm) at room temperature. Magnetic properties indicate that TCNQ is in the reduced state (TCNQ2-).
