Water resource management is an apt consideration for development sustained in an area. In the context of computer-aided analysis for resource management remote sensing technique with GIS can be used. This study outlines the utility of integration of satellite image data with that of georeferenced overlays produced from map and tabular data bases. These methods have been applied to selected coastal, alluvial, and hard rock terrains of Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states. The image data used are from SPOT (PLA) for alluvial terrain, from Landsat for coastal terrain, and from IRS 1A LISS II for hard rock areas. The thematic maps presented in the article are simply to suggest meaningful justifications for the objectives of the study. |
