The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is currently establishing a strong national programme in remote sensing technology. The potential use of remote sensing for resource and environmental management is widely recognized and the Faculty of Earth Sciences (FES) of the King Abduiaziz University is participating actively in this national programme by establishing education, training and research facilities in remote sensing for Earth scientists. An overview of these facilities, which include an academic programme and laboratories for digital image analysis and geographical information systems, photogrammetry and photo reproduction, is presented in this article. |
