A visual interpretation of satellite images and aerial photographs was carried out to determine the tectonic setting around Beawar, which is a part of the Proterozoic Delhi fold belt of northwestern India. Images are used in demarcating regional structural patterns such as lineaments, folds and faults etc., whereas large scale aerial photographs have been used to locate regional as well as local structures, like folds and secondary oblique shears in the area. The folded marker bed associated with incompetent pediment rocks and longitudinal shears indicated the direction of movement of shears, as right-handed and that of oblique shears as left-handed. The detailed studies plus remote sensing techniques revealed that the Delhi Supergroup of rocks in this area have undergone a polyphase deformation.
