The dominant paradigm for communication between A and B involves a channel, i.e., a chain of causes and effects, from A to B or from B to A. This paper shows that communication in the mathematical sense of information theory does not require a direct channel from A to B or from B to A but can result from communication to A and B from a common source. The importance of this form of communication is discussed. |
